This is our newest Flagship Tri. it is designed to house all flight components inside the body. the control board is recessed for its protection.
It has a slightly larger arm span due to the larger plates. as with all our frames it is designed to take abuse.
As for building help see the building the simple T copter video below. it is very similar to this new tri.
Frame comes as shown with arms, rear boom, rear block, fiberglass pivot, retainer Colet, Screws and blind nuts. Tricopter comes fully assembled for US customers. International orders the arms are removed for shipping.
This frame wil support up to 10" props
Frame weight is 5.6oz 158grams (Turnigy Talon weighs 350grams or 12.3oz. weight killss performance and flight time.
Arms are 12” in length
RCtimer 28-30 1300kv (lower quality)
HP2812-1300kv from rctimer (medium quality)
Sunnysky 2212 1400kv (best quality)
The high KV (1300-1400) of the motors and small props (8x4) rotate at tremendous speeds. Any vibrations generated will have a very high frequency which the GoPro won't detect. With the Frame being made of wood and ply wood, more vibrations are dampened, resulting in a jitter and rolling shutter free video. One shortcoming is the relatively short flight duration of around 7 minutes fully loaded with a 2200mah 4S LiPo.
Super simple 18-20 (3 cell only) good for starting out
Plush 30 (3 or 4 cell) very good
Flashed F30A (3 or 4 cell) best
Hobbyking KK2 board

Matt you are the best.
The 2.0 plates arrived today and the first thing that comes to mind is OUT-Freakin-STANDING!!!!
They are perfect for a larger Y6 with slightly heavier arms.
I am thinking 5/8"x3/4"x14" and I'll attach both motors at all 3 ends just like the Y3.
3/4" wide will give extra strength and a better surface to attach the ESC..
Can't wait to get started on it.
And I still say that watching your flying is a real PITA for me.
Be good and have a Merry Christmas or whatever you celebrate.

This is by far the best tricopter body out there. Very durable, comes already put together, and you see the effort that matt has put into making it.
Not to mention the great price!

Ordered from Australia, Tricopter came in good time and well packaged. Easy to assemble using all hobby king parts. Watched Matts simply copter build videos to overcome any difficulties, they are excellent.
The Tricopter flew first go and I am now coming to grips with this amazingly strong and easy to build Tricopter. I would recommend it to anyone. I forgot to order the skids which I recommend to anyone else contemplating the simple copter. Now what next to try.
Thanks for a wonderful build experience.

Saw the videos of Matt flying these things and decided I wanted to learn to fly like that. I'm normally do scratch builds, but for the price decided to give the kit a try and save myself the headache. Glad I did. At first I was a bit skeptical about the rear mount and pivot design. So far, it flies great and has survived several hard crashes, so no complaints. Setup is easy, the tri flies great on stock KK2 PID settings. Bought the skids... definitely worth the money. Overall great product.

This is my fourth simplecopter purchase and like all the previous designs I have bought here, the same concept applies : Simply light and balanced frames that are easy to repair ! They inspire you to fly slightly past your comfort level and push your abilities to a higher level. Very , very pleased with the quality of the frame, quick ship time and overall experience.

as advertised ---other than one arm having a ragged cut it is well machined and got to me in good condition --I think this is a good starting point to use this product and his design on electronics for a firt time pilot like myself (painting frame soon while I want on HK to ship from China!)

I've been flying aerial photography multicopters for two years and have recently moved to acrobatic quads. The Tricopter 2.0 is a simpler built than quads, cheaper, and it is easier to fly acrobatics. Visual orientation is easier with the tri, and the flips and rolls are more crisp. The kit is well made and simple to assemble. My only mod was two nylon washers on the yaw motor block shaft, which made movement and centering more precise. Matt's Youtube build video "Building the simple tricopter from www.simplecopter.com" is excellent and his explanation of the KK2 board setup is easy to understand. This frame and his recommendations are are spot on, and will give you a guaranteed success.
